What is DDoS protection?
DDoS protection monitors data traffic 24/7 at various points on the internet and automatically initiates appropriate defence measures in the event of attacks. A system like this uses different automatic and manual systems to detect an attack, so that it can be detected and stopped in good time.
This requires a correspondingly large and powerful defence system as the attackers use large botnets: DDoS protection uses a globally distributed infrastructure, so-called scrubbing centres, in which the malicious traffic is rendered harmless and never reaches the target system.
What is a DDoS attack?
The term "DDoS" means Distributed Denial of Service. The attacker’s main objective is to overload a service or website, making it unreachable or distracting from a targeted attack.
