Technical and visual relaunch of the PDFlib corporate website

Marketing Factory has technically and visually renewed the website of PDFlib GmbH based on the content management system TYPO3. As part of the relaunch, the existing installation of TYPO3 version 6.2 was upgraded to version 8.7 LTS and received a completely new visual design.

In addition, a special extension for the content of the cookbooks was developed specifically for the customer.

Project details

Visual redesign

The key elements of the new website are the recurring, colorful tiles, which not only act as an important design element, but also ensure clear structures and a modern look. A visual feature of PDFlib's corporate design are the playful illustrations.

"Archetipetti" – reduced figures like the likeable PDFlib angel – guide users through the website and introduce each sub-page thematically. These figures were created by Prof. Alessio Leonardi, Professor of Visual Communication and Partner at Lion & Bee in Berlin.

A pleasant side effect of the vector illustrations: The website is extremely performant due to the tiny image data sizes. And the illustrations are sharp on every screen.

Cookbook Devices

Development of the Cookbook extension

An essential part of the PDFlib website are the so-called "Cookbooks", which contain hundreds of PHP and Java code snippets that support developers in solving various PDF problems. The website contains the PDFlib Cookbook, the TET Cookbook and the pCOS Cookbook on separate subpages, each of which deals with specific problem areas.

After selecting a cookbook, the developer is taken to dedicated sub-pages that are located outside of the PDFlib corporate website navigation structure and have their own topic-related navigation. After selecting a problem, the developer then finds code snippets in PHP or Java.

As part of the project, MFC developed the individual cookbook extension with PDFlib, which controls and correctly formats the contents of the cookbooks.
