After launching the new website for the OBERMEYER group of companies in July 2021, work began on internationalization by means of an English language version. A translation agency was commissioned to produce the translations.
In order to control the entire translation handling centrally, TYPO3 was extended with the "Localization Manager" extension (l10nmgr), which was used to export the content to be translated into the file format required by the translation agency. The file format depended on the translation software used by the agency. Once the file had been imported into the translation software, the translations could be easily and conveniently stored and then imported into TYPO3 via the Localization Manager.
Before the import, it was defined in the L10N module in the TYPO3 backend whether the entire content or only new/changed content should be imported and whether the translations should be created as the default language or as a localization. After clicking the "Import" button, all localized pages and content elements were successfully created in TYPO3 within a few minutes.
Before the international language version went live, the website's meta navigation was extended to include a language switch, allowing users to switch between the German and English language versions with just one click.
The English language version of the corporate site went live in Q1 2022.
