RHEINZINK's website was technically and visually outdated and no longer met the standards that RHEINZINK, as the world market leader, had for its external presentation. The website was operated in a TYPO3 version that was no longer officially supported. As part of the relaunch, the technical basis as well as the frontend were to be modernized with focus on screen design, usability and addressing the target group.
Marketing Factory realized a technical and visual relaunch of the corporate site for the customer RHEINZINK based on TYPO3 8 LTS.
In addition to a complete redesign of the website in terms of content and structure, the focus was primarily on the optimized user guidance of the different target groups "Architects & Planners", "Craftsmen", "Trade" and "Builders & Renovators".
RHEINZINK runs an internal database in which the company's numerous craftsmen and dealer are stored as data records. To round off the experience on the website, the data was automatically imported into the TYPO3 CMS using an interface to Google Maps and an interface connection to the customer's internal database. As a result, an extensive craftsmen and dealer search was implemented on the website and linked to an interactive Google map.
In addition to the dealer and craftsmen search, a contact search is integrated on the website. This is used to display the regional managers and contact persons for architects and planners, for the project business, the trades, for fabricators, training courses and commercial customers in the selected postcode area, by storing the postcode areas via RegEx.
In order to give the target groups the simplest and quickest possible insight into the website, a comprehensive search function was integrated, which uses the Apache Solr search software as its core technology, since this allows the results to be narrowed down with the help of specific facets.
The new Download Center with its various filter options is also based on Solr and the additional extension Solrfal. The collection basket function integrated in the Download Center enables the compilation of different documents within the website (brochures, technical information, certificates, data sheets, etc.) in order to be able to download them together.
The creation of new data records for the Download Center is kept quite simple for the editor: He only creates a file within a defined subtree in the file list in the TYPO3 backend, selects the desired categories (sys_categories) and saves the data set once. The download is then automatically sent to Solr and is available in the Download Center after the next index run. The filter options, which enable the user to refine their selection, are automatically composed of the categories (sys_categories) stored in the system and linked to the download files.
The display of the reference objects, including the associated filter options, was also implemented with the help of Solr.
